The Federation of Spanish Chambers of Commerce in Europe (FEDECOM) has awarded Borja Prado, Chairman of Endesa, the title of Best Businessman of the year 2011. The Secretary of State for Commerce, Jaime García-Legaz, presented this prize, hosted last Friday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

The assembly gathered the Presidents and representatives of the Spanish Official Chambers of Commerce in Europe and the North of Africa. We also welcomed the presence of the Director General of Trade and Investments, Mr. Antonio José Fernández-Martos Montero, to whom the Presidents of the federated Chambers had the chance to convey their concerns and suggestions.

Given the difficult economic scenario the Spanish business is facing and how this is affecting the daily life of the Official Spanish Chambers of Commerce abroad, the Board of the Federation of Spanish Chambers of Commerce has transferred the message of the opportunities and threats that are occurring nowadays relating to the crisis to the State Secretary of Commerce and the Ministry in Madrid during a meeting in Brussels.

D. Jaime García-Legaz Ponce, Secretary of State for Commerce (which is now under the authority of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness) has assumed the directorship of a new administrative entity that inherits power from various secretariats and subsecretariats.

The Federation of Spanish Chambers of Commerce in Europe (FEDECOM) held last Tuesday 21st June the award of 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year, which took place in the auditorium of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade in Madrid, and counted with the assistance of the General Secretary for Trade, Mr. Alfredo Bonet. The 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year Award was given to Mr. Antonio Brufau current CEO of Repsol,( www.repsolypf.

The Secretary of State for Trade in collaboration with FEDECOM and the rest of Spanish Official Chambers of Commerce Abroad have organized two informative videoconference sessions held by the law firm Uría and Menendez Lawyers about environmental obligations and responsibilities. The informative sessions were broadcasted from Madrid. The Spanish Chambers of Commerce of London, Brussels, Lisbon, Paris, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Pekin and Sidney participated in the first session.
